Our club's work with local youth appeared in a recent issue of the Foxboro Reporter!

"The Foxboro Rotary group has been working with local youth for years by providing opportunities for young people to participate in the community, become more effective leaders and help those less fortunate.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a leadership development program. The club typically pays for several students each year to attend a weekend long workshop which includes presentations, activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including: leadership fundamentals and ethics, communication skills, problem solving and conflict management and community and global citizenship.

Foxboro also has a local Interact club which is for youth ages 12-18 who want to connect with others in their community or school. The Foxboro Interact club does several local service projects each year, like projects for seniors, fundraising for those less fortunate both locally and for those in other parts of the world.

The club also sponsored a trip last year and will be doing it again this year for a week-long trip to an area to provide assistance at free health clinic in an underprivileged area. This year the clinic will be held in June in Mexico. This will be a valuable experience, in terms of exposure to a new culture and to give the students the opportunity to deliver direct services to the population of indigenous people in the area.
Lew Gordon and Jim Goyea, two local Rotarians, are currently scouting out the project this week in Mexico.

Financially, the club has provided scholarships each year to a handful of seniors going on to college, local credit fairs that educate youth about financial responsibility and in past years have also supported the senior night ensuring that our local youth are safe that evening.

If you know of youths who would be interested in learning more, please contact Lew Gordon via the website foxbororotary.org."
